What it is
Body biostimulators are injectable collagen-stimulating agents — such as Sculptra and Radiesse — applied to body areas like the arms, abdomen, thighs and buttocks to firm crepey, lax skin by prompting the skin to rebuild its own collagen.
Body biostimulators work beneath the skin to improve its underlying support structure on areas of the body prone to laxity or crepey, thinning skin. Unlike conventional fillers, they do not add volume directly. Instead they stimulate your body’s own collagen production, gradually improving firmness, texture and tone across larger body areas such as the arms, abdomen, thighs, buttocks and hips, as well as the knees, elbows, hands and décolletage.
At Shookra we use two collagen-stimulating products for the body. Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid biostimulator that activates collagen production for a gradual improvement in skin quality and firmness, suited to areas like the buttocks, thighs, arms and abdomen where it helps reduce crepiness and lift skin laxity. Radiesse is a calcium-based biostimulator that provides an initial volumising effect alongside deeper collagen stimulation, useful for the hands, knees, elbows and décolletage and for improving texture and firmness over time.
Because the change relies on your own collagen, it builds progressively. Each treatment is tailored to the body area and your individual anatomy, administered under doctor-led clinical protocols for precision and safety.

Who it's for
Body biostimulators suit people troubled by skin that has lost its firmness across the body rather than the face. That includes crepey or thinning skin on the arms, abdomen and thighs, laxity across the buttocks and hips, looseness that can follow pregnancy or weight change, and skin quality concerns around the knees, elbows, ageing hands and the décolletage. They can also help soften texture irregularities and the look of cellulite dimpling.
Because body skin is thicker and the areas larger than on the face, the product, technique and number of sessions are matched to the region being treated. Body biostimulators are not right for everyone; your clinician confirms suitability and maps out a plan at consultation, and will review your skin and any relevant history first.
- Crepey, thinning skin on arms, abdomen & thighs
- Skin laxity across buttocks & hips
- Post-pregnancy or weight-change looseness
- Skin quality on knees, elbows & hands
- Dull, lower-quality body skin
Who it’s not for
A few situations mean it’s better to wait, or to choose a different treatment:
- Active infection or inflammation at the intended injection site.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Known hypersensitivity to the product or its components.
- A tendency to keloid or hypertrophic scarring.
This isn’t exhaustive, and none of it rules you out on its own — your clinician confirms suitability at consultation.
What to expect
- 01
Consultation & assessment
A detailed consultation identifies the body areas to treat and your goals, and confirms which biostimulator suits each region and your skin.
- 02
Precision administration
Your clinician injects the biostimulator across the treatment area using techniques chosen for body skin, prioritising safety and an even result.
- 03
Follow-up & maintenance
Most body areas need a short course of sessions spaced weeks apart to build collagen, with periodic reviews to monitor progress and plan any maintenance.
Physician note
On Body Biostimulators
Treating the body is a different exercise from treating the face. The areas are larger, the skin is thicker, and crepiness on the arms or laxity across the buttocks usually needs the collagen to be built up gradually over a planned course rather than in one session. I assess each area on its own merits at consultation — what helps the abdomen after weight change is not always what suits the décolletage — and I am candid when a different treatment would serve a patient better. The result we are after is firmer, smoother skin that still looks like your own.
