Spider Veins Treatment in Dubai
Spider veins are usually a cosmetic concern rather than a medical one. The reason we still assess before treating is simple: in some people they are the visible edge of a larger vein problem, and treating the surface without checking gets the sequence wrong.

What it is
Spider Veins, explained.
Spider veins, also called thread veins, are small dilated blood vessels sitting just under the skin — fine red, blue or purple lines, most often on the legs or face. They are much smaller than varicose veins and lie closer to the surface.
These are tiny vessels that have widened and become visible through the skin. On the legs they often appear in clusters or a branching pattern; on the face they tend to follow the nose and cheeks.
Family history, hormonal changes including pregnancy, prolonged standing, sun exposure on the face and age all contribute. They are extremely common and are not a sign of poor health.
Most cause no symptoms. Where spider veins come with aching, heaviness or ankle swelling, that pattern suggests the deeper veins are worth checking before anything is treated on the surface.
Common signs
What people usually notice.
- Fine red, blue or purple lines visible under the skin
- Clusters or branching patterns on the thighs or calves
- Fine vessels across the nose and cheeks
- Usually no physical symptoms at all
- Occasionally mild aching or itching over the area
- Sometimes appearing alongside larger varicose veins
Signs overlap between conditions, and this list is not a diagnosis. What you have is established by examination, not by a checklist.
Assessment
How a specialist works out what is going on.
- 01
History
When they appeared, whether they are spreading, and whether there is any aching, heaviness or swelling alongside them.
- 02
Examination
The pattern and distribution are examined, and your legs are checked for larger veins that are not obvious to you.
- 03
Ultrasound, where indicated
Where the pattern or your symptoms suggest an underlying problem, ultrasound checks the deeper veins first. Not everyone needs this.
- 04
The plan
Whether treatment is appropriate, in what order, and what to expect from it.
What may be considered
Options a specialist may discuss with you.
Which of these is appropriate — if any — depends entirely on what the assessment finds. They are described here so you know what the conversation may cover, not as a menu to choose from.
- SclerotherapyThe most common approach for leg spider veins: a solution injected into the vessel so it closes. Performed in-clinic where an assessment finds it suitable.
- Endovenous & Surgical TreatmentOnly relevant where assessment finds a larger underlying vein problem that should be addressed first.
Seek urgent care
Sudden leg swelling or pain needs immediate assessment, not an appointment.
Spider veins themselves are not an emergency. But go to an emergency department or call for urgent medical help if you develop sudden swelling in one leg, new calf pain or tenderness, skin that is warm, red or discoloured, or a hard, painful vein — and especially alongside chest pain, breathlessness or coughing blood. These can indicate a clot in a deep vein or in the lungs. Do not wait for a routine consultation with us.
When to be seen
Don’t wait this one out.
Outside an emergency, have them assessed if they are spreading quickly, if they come with aching, heaviness or ankle swelling, if a vein has bled, or simply if they bother you enough that you want to know what your options are.
