PRP Injections for Joints & Tendons in Dubai
This page covers PRP used in ortho and sports medicine — knees, shoulders, elbows, tendons. It is performed in-clinic in Business Bay, only after a specialist has assessed the problem and judged that an injection is a reasonable option for you. If you are looking at PRP for skin or hair, that is a different page.

What Are PRP for Joints & Tendons?
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) for joints and tendons is an injection prepared from a small sample of your own blood, which is spun to concentrate the platelets before the concentrate is injected into the affected joint, tendon or ligament.
A small sample of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge, which separates it by density and concentrates the platelet fraction. That concentrate — platelet-rich plasma — is then injected into the structure being treated.
Because the material comes from your own blood, nothing foreign is introduced. Preparation methods vary between clinics and between systems, and that variation is one reason published findings differ; your specialist will explain what is used here.
PRP is an active area of research in orthopaedics and the evidence behind it varies by condition and by preparation. We describe what the procedure is and what it involves; we do not tell you what it will do for you, and no page on this site claims it repairs or regenerates tissue.

Who Are PRP for Joints & Tendons For?
PRP is most often raised in relation to joint conditions such as osteoarthritis of the knee or hip, and to long-standing tendon problems around the shoulder, elbow, heel and Achilles.
Whether it is appropriate for you is a clinical judgement made after examination and any imaging your specialist asks for, and it varies a great deal between people and between conditions. For some presentations it is not the right route and we will say so; for others, something else should be tried first.

- Long-standing tendon problems
- Shoulder, elbow and heel presentations
- Sports-related soft-tissue injuries
Who it’s not for
A few situations mean it’s better to wait, or to choose a different treatment:
- Blood disorders, low platelet count, or blood-thinning medication
- Active infection in or around the area to be injected
- Active cancer or significant immunosuppression
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
This isn’t exhaustive, and none of it rules you out on its own — your clinician confirms suitability at consultation.

On PRP for Joints & Tendons
People usually arrive having read that PRP either works or is a waste of money. The honest position is narrower than both: it is an option that some presentations warrant discussing and others do not, and the only way to know which applies to you is an examination. We would rather have that conversation than sell you a course of injections.
