Men’s Health & Testosterone Assessment in Dubai
Men tend to see a doctor late, and to put tiredness, weight gain or a lower drive down to work and age. Our physicians test the hormones, metabolism and heart markers that sit behind those changes, and explain plainly what the results mean for you.
- Testosterone, thyroid and adrenal markers read together
- Heart and metabolic risk covered at the same visit
- Results explained plainly by a physician

What Is a Men’s Health Assessment?
A men’s health assessment measures testosterone alongside thyroid function, blood sugar, cholesterol and body composition, and reads them together against your symptoms, because low energy, low libido and weight gain rarely have one cause.
Testosterone is the headline male hormone, but it does not work alone. Thyroid hormones set the pace of metabolism, insulin governs how energy is stored, cortisol tracks stress, and sleep influences all of them. A men’s health assessment looks at these together.
Testosterone levels tend to fall gradually with age, but in many men a low result is linked as much to excess weight, poor sleep, heavy alcohol use, chronic stress or illness as to age itself. Testosterone also follows a daily rhythm and is usually highest in the morning.
The same factors that affect hormones also raise blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol, which is why a men’s health check looks at the heart and metabolism in the same visit rather than treating testosterone as a separate question.
Men’s Health Symptoms: Who Should Get Tested
This assessment suits men from their thirties onwards who have noticed changes in energy, body composition, mood or sex drive, men who have not had a check-up in some years, and men with a family history of heart disease or diabetes who want a clear baseline.
It is also relevant for men who train seriously and want to understand recovery, men with sleep apnoea or heavy snoring, men with type 2 diabetes or excess weight, and men who have used anabolic steroids or testosterone in the past.
Chest pain, breathlessness on exertion, a new lump in the testicle, blood in the urine or difficulty passing urine needs a prompt medical opinion rather than a scheduled check — please seek care straight away.
- Tiredness that does not lift with rest
- Lower libido or morning erections
- Losing muscle despite training
- Weight gathering around the middle
- Poor concentration or low drive
- Low mood or irritability
- Thinning hair
- A family history of heart disease or diabetes

Male Hormone and Health Markers Explained
A men’s health assessment can look at the markers below. Your physician confirms which are run for you at the consultation, based on your symptoms and history.
- Total testosterone
- The overall amount in the blood. Best taken in the morning, and often repeated before any conclusion is drawn.
- Free testosterone
- The unbound, usable portion — useful when total testosterone is borderline.
- SHBG
- The protein that binds testosterone. It changes with weight, age and liver health, and shifts how total results read.
- LH and FSH
- Pituitary signals to the testes. They show whether a low level starts in the testes or higher up.
- Oestradiol
- Men make oestrogen from testosterone. It is read alongside testosterone rather than alone.
- HbA1c and insulin
- Blood-sugar and insulin markers, since metabolic health and testosterone are closely linked.
- Lipid profile
- Cholesterol and triglycerides, part of reading heart risk in the same visit.
- Thyroid function
- An underactive thyroid can cause tiredness and low drive that look like low testosterone.
Low Testosterone Symptoms: When to Get Tested
The symptoms most closely associated with low testosterone are reduced sex drive, fewer morning erections, lower energy, loss of muscle and strength, and increased body fat. Mood, concentration and sleep can be affected too. None of these is specific: poor sleep, stress, thyroid change and low iron cause the same picture.
That is why a single testosterone number is not enough. A low result is usually confirmed with a repeat morning sample, and read with LH, FSH and SHBG to understand where the change starts, before anything is concluded.
If you are considering testing, the most useful preparation is simple: book a morning appointment, sleep normally the night before, and bring a list of any supplements or medication you take.
Testosterone, Weight and Metabolic Health in Men
Low testosterone and excess abdominal fat are closely linked, and the relationship runs both ways: fat tissue converts testosterone to oestrogen, and lower testosterone makes it easier to gain fat and lose muscle. Insulin resistance often sits in the middle of this pattern.
For many men the most useful findings are not hormonal at all but metabolic: a rising HbA1c, raised triglycerides, or more visceral fat than expected. Reading them together is what turns a set of results into a plan.
Our metabolic health assessment goes further into insulin and body composition where that is the main question.
Men’s Heart Health After 40
Cardiovascular disease tends to appear earlier in men than in women, and the factors behind it — blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, smoking and weight — are usually silent for years. A men’s health assessment measures them alongside hormones so the whole picture is read at once.
Where family history is strong, or results are borderline, your physician may suggest a more detailed heart health screening, which looks at markers such as ApoB and Lp(a) that a standard cholesterol test does not include.
Total vs Free Testosterone
Two measurements of the same hormone that answer slightly different questions. Your physician reads them together.
| Total testosterone | Free testosterone | |
|---|---|---|
| What it measures | All testosterone in the blood, bound and unbound | The unbound portion available to tissues |
| Affected by SHBG | Yes — high or low SHBG shifts the total | Calculated or measured to account for SHBG |
| Usual role | The first-line test | Added when the total is borderline or SHBG is unusual |
| Timing | Morning sample | Morning sample, same draw |
After Your Results
At the results review your physician goes through each marker, explains what it means and how the results relate to one another, and sets out what happens next. For some men that is reassurance and a re-test date. For others it is a repeat test, further investigation or a referral.
Where results point to sleep, weight, nutrient or metabolic factors, the plan usually starts there. Testosterone therapy can be discussed where clinically appropriate, after confirmed results and a full review of benefits and risks — always based on what was measured.

A Note From Your Physician
On men’s health
Most men I see come in asking about testosterone. The answer is sometimes there, but just as often it is in the sleep history, the waistline or the blood sugar. I would rather test the whole picture once than chase one number, and explain what each result means before we decide anything.
