Vascular & Vein Treatment

Vascular & Vein Treatment in Dubai

Vascular and vein treatment covers the assessment and management of varicose veins, spider veins and related venous conditions of the legs. At Shookra it is specialist-led, DHA-licensed and based in Business Bay, and it starts with an assessment — including ultrasound where indicated.

Sclerotherapy is performed in-clinic once a specialist has assessed you. Surgical and endovenous options are discussed and planned at consultation. Which route suits you — if any — depends on what the assessment finds beneath the surface.

How it works

Look under the surface before treating it.

Visible veins are sometimes the whole problem and sometimes the surface of one that sits deeper. Treating what you can see without checking what you cannot is how people end up disappointed, so the order here is always assessment first.

  1. 01

    Assess

A specialist examines your legs standing, and requests a duplex ultrasound where the pattern or your symptoms call for it.

  2. 02

    Explain

You are told which veins are affected, whether the deeper valves are working, and which options are reasonable to consider.

  3. 03

    Decide together

Where compression and conservative measures are the right answer, or where nothing needs doing, that is what you will hear.

Field notes

How leg veins actually work — and why they stop.

Veins move blood uphill, against gravity, all day. Almost everything about varicose veins, swelling and heaviness follows from how that job is done and what happens when part of the system stops pulling its weight.

Valves

One-way gates, all the way up.

Each time the calf contracts, one-way valves inside the leg veins open and blood is pushed upward. When it relaxes, they close so blood cannot fall back down. Varicose veins begin when those gates stop sealing and blood starts running the wrong way.

The frame

We will not tell you your veins are gone for good.

A vein that has been properly treated does not reopen. That is true, and it is as far as the truth goes. No treatment stops new veins forming later, and nothing on offer changes the tendency to develop them.

You will also not find before-and-after leg photographs here. They are close to standard in vein marketing. They invite a comparison between your legs and someone else’s that is not clinically meaningful, and presenting outcomes that way is not something our advertising standards permit.

  • Phlebology

Dr. Ashkan Haghshenas has practised as a vascular surgeon in Dubai since 2005, and led the vascular surgery department at Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery from 2015 to 2023. He trained in general medicine at Rīga Stradiņš University, specialised in vascular surgery, and holds a postgraduate qualification in healthcare management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

His work spans open surgery, minimally invasive techniques and endovascular procedures, and he sits on the advisory committee of the International Forum for Mini-surgery and Phlebectomy of Varicose Veins.

Vein care here starts with his assessment — the veins you can see and, where it matters, what the valves are doing underneath. You are told what he thinks is happening and which options are reasonable, including when the honest answer is compression and movement rather than a procedure.

Questions

Good to know.

Do I need a referral?
No. You can book a consultation directly and the specialist will assess you from there. Bring any previous scans or reports you have.
Will I need an ultrasound?
Often, yes. A duplex ultrasound is what distinguishes a surface vein problem from valve failure deeper in the leg, and the two are managed differently. Your specialist decides whether one is needed.
Is sclerotherapy performed at Shookra?
Yes. Sclerotherapy is performed in-clinic at our Business Bay location by a DHA-licensed clinician, once a specialist has assessed you and agreed a plan.
Do you perform vein surgery?
Treatment here begins with a specialist consultation that assesses your veins and sets out your options. How and where an interventional procedure itself would be carried out is explained as part of that consultation.
Are varicose veins just cosmetic?
Sometimes, and sometimes not. Many cause no symptoms at all, while others come with aching, swelling or skin changes that are worth addressing. Which applies to you is what the assessment establishes.
How much does treatment cost?
It depends on your assessment and the plan that suits you, so pricing is shared in the consultation rather than published. Message us on WhatsApp and the team will talk you through options and help you arrange one.
