What it is

EBOO is an extracorporeal blood therapy in which a portion of the blood is drawn, passed through a sterile filter and a measured oxygen and ozone mixture, then returned to the body within a continuous closed circuit.

EBOO is a closed-circuit blood-treatment procedure. Using two points of access, blood is gently drawn from one arm, circulated through a single-use sterile filter, exposed to a controlled blend of medical oxygen and ozone, and returned through the other arm. The circuit is continuous, so the blood is treated and given back across the same session rather than removed and stored.

The filter is intended to help separate certain particulates from the blood, while the oxygen-ozone mixture interacts with the blood as it passes through the circuit. The procedure is sometimes described as a form of ozone therapy delivered through the bloodstream rather than by injection.

A session typically involves:

  • Two small cannula access points, one per arm
  • A single-use, sterile closed circuit
  • A measured oxygen and medical-ozone mixture
  • Continuous filtration and return of your own blood

EBOO at Shookra is delivered within doctor-led protocols, with suitability assessed beforehand. It is a clinical procedure, not a spa treatment, and is carried out by trained medical staff.

Who it's for

EBOO is considered as part of a physician-led longevity plan rather than a standalone fix — usually by people exploring a medically supervised approach to ozone therapy, recovery and general-wellness support, or cellular and metabolic health, often alongside a broader longevity assessment or an existing IV or NAD plan.

EBOO is not suitable for everyone. Your physician reviews your medical history, current medications and any relevant blood conditions before recommending it, and will advise whether it fits your wider plan.

  • Inflammation and oxidative load
  • Persistent fatigue and low energy
  • Immune support
  • Recovery and repair protocols
  • Circulation and tissue oxygenation

Who it’s not for

A few situations mean it’s better to wait, or to choose a different treatment:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Known G6PD deficiency.
  • Active bleeding, a bleeding disorder, or use of blood-thinning medication.
  • Uncontrolled cardiovascular conditions.

This isn’t exhaustive, and none of it rules you out on its own — your clinician confirms suitability at consultation.

What to expect

  1. 01

    Consultation & assessment

A physician reviews your history, current medications and goals, and confirms whether EBOO is appropriate for you. Pre-procedure checks may be requested where indicated.

  2. 02

    The procedure

Cannulas are placed in each arm and your blood is circulated through a sterile, single-use filter and an oxygen-ozone mixture, then returned. You stay seated and monitored throughout, and the session usually takes around 30 to 60 minutes.

  3. 03

    After your session

The access points are dressed and you rest briefly before leaving. Your clinician explains any aftercare and whether further sessions fit your plan.

Physician note

On EBOO

I treat EBOO as a clinical procedure that belongs inside a wider, supervised plan rather than as a one-off. The most important part is the assessment beforehand: I review your history and medications, and I am candid when EBOO is not the right choice. When it is appropriate, I prefer to use it alongside, not instead of, the rest of a longevity protocol, and to keep expectations measured and evidence-led.

Questions

01What does EBOO stand for?
EBOO stands for Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation. "Extracorporeal" means the blood is treated outside the body within a sterile circuit before being returned.
02How is EBOO different from other ozone therapies?
EBOO uses a continuous closed circuit that draws blood, passes it through a filter and an oxygen-ozone mixture, and returns it in the same session. Other ozone approaches may treat a smaller, single volume of blood at a time. Your physician will explain which method, if any, suits you.
03Is EBOO safe, and who should avoid it?
EBOO is performed by trained medical staff using sterile, single-use equipment under DHA-licensed supervision. It is not suitable for everyone — for example, certain blood conditions, pregnancy or some medications may make it inappropriate. A physician reviews your history first and confirms suitability before any session.
04How long does a session take?
A typical EBOO session takes around 30 to 60 minutes, during which you remain seated and monitored. Your clinician will confirm timing at your consultation.
05How many sessions might I need?
There is no fixed number. Any schedule is decided by your physician based on your assessment and how EBOO fits your wider plan, rather than a set package.
06What does EBOO cost at Shookra?
Pricing depends on your assessment and the protocol your physician recommends. Message us on WhatsApp and the team will share current pricing and help you arrange a consultation.
